Marketplace Ministry Awareness Assignments
This segment is of a general nature, designed to assist the participant in understanding the significance of their role as a marketplace minister in the fulfilliment of God’s plan within the Body of Christ.
Presentation Development Assignment
A vital component of the Business Mission Trip is to impart some of your business skills to the nationals. To communicate and share these skills in the most effective way will require some time and effort. It is strongly suggested that you focus primarily on the topic matter that you are most familiar with and assemble it into a format that can be expanded upon or reduced according to the time allotted.
For example: if your strength is in the management arena, then work to make a clear and concise presentation on a topic or topics in management. An example of topic might be time management or team building. Work to format your presentation within a one-hour time slot that could be expanded upon. Do not try to be a jack-of-all-trades and a master-of-none. Rather, focus on one primary gifting that God has blessed you with and let this gifting be the central theme that runs throughout your presentation. If you already have presentation materials that you are accustomed to using, we would like copies of these to review and prepare for marketing purposes with the Business Host. If you would like to utilize some of the materials and ideas on selected subjects that we at have available at GBSF, please contact our office.
People and Cultural Awareness Assignment
When you are in a foreign country, you will be more greatly respected if you study the culture and learn a few of phrases in the native language. When possible, you will be encouraged to meet with a national that resides in the U.S. This will afford you an opportunity to discuss some of the cultural differences and ask questions on specifics, such as protocols and ethics. By searching the Internet and/or literature you will find a vast resource of information regarding the culture and the country that you will be visiting.
Spiritual Preparation
Even though you will be busy in your preparation time, remember that the most important thing you can do to get ready for any mission trip is to spend time with the Lord in prayer and in His Word, allowing Him to direct you. If you are not taking time for daily devotions, now is the time to begin or return to this important practice. Having this time with God is life changing, instructive, and refreshing. Your personal spiritual development is vital to what is accomplished on the mission trip.
Remember to have fun. While preparing for the trip, don’t forget the enjoyment of working together with God. As you determine to keep a good attitude, it will infect and affect those around you.
Scriptures
The Scriptures are of utmost importance for us and to all. They correct, teach, guide and empower. You may want to list a few passages to which you can refer that relates to the principles of your topic or topics. These may be incorporated into your presentation, if guidelines from the Business Host permit. Check with the Stateside Coordinator for the specific boundaries and protocol for your particular nation and speaking engagements.
!Important! Please keep in mind that we are working together with Business Hosts from countries that may be considered “closed nations.” Some of our speaking venues might include public or governmental audiences. Therefore, we never want to jeopardize our Business Host’s established relationships and long-term work.
Prayer
There are many types and definitions of prayer. Simply put, prayer is communicating with God and inviting and allowing Him to communicate with you. Never underestimate the power of heartfelt, faith-filled prayers. If you have specific areas concerning the Business Mission Trip that you would like covered in prayer, consider writing them down and sharing them with your team leader and others in your group.
